Warm jacket, sweater and pants are good. Sailing is an outdoor sport so quality outdoor clothing is appropriate. It’s much better to have warm clothes and not need them, than to need warm clothes and not have them. Fleece is particularly versatile. Wool is warm even when wet. Long and short-sleeved shirts. Blue jeans are fine in sunny warm weather, but understand that cotton is probably the worst insulator when wet or damp and will not dry out, so bring a change. Waterproof/windproof jacket and pants are great. Boots for possible rainy weather.
Non-slip, non-marking footwear. Deck or court shoes are good to avoid ‘tire marks’ on deck.
Please bring a sleeping bag, pillow & a towel. We can provide a sleeping bag & pillow for $50. Pillow only $30, sleeping bag only $30. You will need to inform the school if you require either before the course.
Please bring a soft luggage bag. There is limited space on a yacht, and hard bags are very difficult to accommodate. Bring one bag for your clothes if possible. Personal items should include toiletries and medication, sunglasses and sun screen, camera, and maybe a few favourite CDs. Bring a book (they are little bound paper things that add hours of quiet entertainment)
You are welcome to bring a small amount of alcoholic beverages on the overnight courses. We do not consume alcohol during the day while sailing. You are welcome to enjoy a light drink at anchorages or Marina’s at the day’s end.
The vessel is equipped with a head (Marine Toilet), and has a pressurized hot and cold water system. Although the head is also equipped with a shower, even in much larger boats they tend to be of marginal use. If needed, of course the shower is an option. We stop when possible at a marina where you can take advantage of all the shore side facilities including washroom and showers.
We provide food and beverages for our excursions while you are on the boat. If you have favourite snacks, bring them. We like to provide high quality wholesome food and enjoy co-creating with our guests as part of the cruising experience. If you don’t like to share in the preparation of food, because that’s not your thing, that’s ok to. Expenses for restaurants and other ashore facilities are not part of the excursion.
And above all: Bring your happiest self. Expect to have fun and enjoy life.
