At Big Blue Sailing, our Introduction to Sailing sessions are designed as a true first step into boating.
This is where it begins—not with theory or pressure—but with a hands-on, guided experience that introduces you to the fundamentals of being safely and comfortably on the water.
Whether you’ve never stepped on a boat before or are simply curious to try, this session is built to meet you right where you are.
This is an entry-level experience aligned with Sail Canada’s Introduction to Boating standard.
The goal is simple: To introduce you to safe practices, basic participation as crew, and the overall experience of being on a sailboat.
There is no pressure to perform—just an opportunity to learn, observe, and take part.
Over the course of the session, you’ll be guided through the full experience of a sail:
Before Leaving the Dock
Underway
Returning to the Dock
You are always encouraged—but never pressured—to participate.
No experience is required.
This session is intentionally flexible and adapts to your comfort level. Some participants prefer to observe and take it in, while others want to be hands-on right away—both approaches are fully supported.
This is an excellent experience for:
Pricing: $180 per person
There is no formal evaluation.
Each session ends with a conversation about what you experienced, what you learned, and what your next step—if any—might look like.
Sailing is best learned by doing.
This session gives you a clear, supportive introduction—so you can step aboard with confidence and decide where you want to go next.
